We live in a world of technology.
Ever since the rise of the digital revolution, technology has become almost indispensable in our lives.
This is something which is true whether you’re referring to the world of music, entertainment or anything else.
And if there is one thing that has become a hallmark of this revolution, it is that of smartphones, tablets and other handheld digital devices, which have become a symbol of the modern age.
With the sales of these devices still on the rise across the world, it is likely that it this is a phenomenon like no other, and which is going to last for a very long time.
When it comes to these devices, care and maintenance is something that is absolutely important.
As much as they may be functional, they are also rather delicate in nature, and can get damaged with relative ease. The damage, ranging from minor scratches to breakage, is an issue that needs to be addressed, if its lifespan is to be extended and functionality maintained.
This is where tempered glass films come in. It is a known fact that the glass of smartphones and tablets are fairly fragile. Even if they may claim to be made out of toughened polymers or glass, the fact is that they will break with relative ease, or at least end up getting scratched at a moment’s notice. Using a tempered glass film can prove to be of immense help, when it comes to protecting them from harm, whether it is from dust, dirt, water or anything else.
For those who aren’t aware of what a tempered glass film is, it is essentially a thin layer of toughened glass, placed on top of the smartphone or tablet screen, so as to protect it from damage, especially that of scratches. The glass is made tough through a process called tempering, where it is heated and cooled, until it becomes relatively tough in comparison to other glasses of the same thickness. In addition to this, the glass may also be structurally enhanced with the help of chemical additives.
If you are trying to use a tempered glass film on your device, whether it is on the smartphone or a tablet, there are a few things to be kept in mind.
Given in the steps below are some of the most important steps to consider, when it comes to applying a tempered glass film.
1.) Prepare everything you need
This is the very first thing that you will need to do before you stick a tempered film onto the device.
You will have to prepare the surface for the necessary procedures to be carried out. Among the things that are included under this point are:
- Clear any clutter that might exist on the table.
- Open the packaging of the tempered glass film.
- Prepare the solvents used for cleaning the surface of the device.
2.) Clean the Surface of the Device
Of the many different steps that are involved in the application of a tempered film, this is one of the most important things to do before you stick a tempered glass film on your device.
The surface will have to be cleaned of any dust and dirt that might be on the surface. Using a solvent such as alcohol or acetone, wipe off any dust, dirt, etc which might be present on the surface of the phone.
If you have any previous film attached to it, remove the same in a slow and gentle manner. You will have to be especially careful, if in case the same is broken and cracked. The pieces of shattered film are often as sharp as any other piece of glass, meaning that one will have to be careful while doing this.
3.) Preparing the Protective Glass Film
Take the glass film and prepare to apply the same on the device.
You will need start by locating the plastic film on the glass, which covers an adhesive layer. You will need to remove the plastic film first, before you can stick it onto your device.
While you remove it, make sure that you don’t touch the adhesive layer in any way. It happens to be very sensitive in nature, meaning that you might just end up with the same getting covered in your thumbprints.
4.) Align the tempered film on top of the device
Place the glass film diagonally against the surface of the device, where the base of the film touches the surface of the screen.
This will serve as the starting point for placing the entire film on the screen.
You will need to make sure that the screen and the tempered glass are aligned against each other, as opposed to being slightly off.
5.) Slowly lower the protective film
Once you have aligned the film with the screen, you will need to start sticking the film.
Slowly lower the same onto the screen, without touching the screen or the adhesive side of the tempered film.
6.) Place the protective film
Once lowered, gently press the film onto the screen. You may have to do it a few times to make sure any air bubbles that might have been accidentally caught are removed.
You might want to use a hard and flat surface to slowly press out any air bubbles which might have got stuck along the way. A good example of such a surface is that of a debit or credit card.
7.) The finishing touch
Last but not the least, use the alcohol to wipe the film’s surface to give it a glossy shine.
Once you do this, you will be ready to use your device.
Following the above mentioned steps should help you to apply the tempered glass film on your device, with relative ease.
It may sound a bit delicate, which it is, but with care and attention, you should be able to carry out the task without any problems.
As a whole, it is important to remember that the glass of safety devices can get damaged with relative ease.
Even if it doesn’t crack due to sudden drops or shocks, it can still get scratched by small grains of dirt.
In this regard, the usage of tempered glass films such as screen guards can prove to be of immense help.
